Bathing is a very effective and important way to stay clean, it cleans the entire body and makes a person feel a sense of relief.
There are some people who bathe daily and some many times a day. Experts have different opinions regarding how many times a person should bathe in a week.
Jeffrey Cohen, MD, a dermatologist and assistant professor at the Yale School of Medicine, says that everyone has their own personal preference for cleansing, with some people showering as often as every other day and others as often as twice a day. If you belong to such people, this is the appropriate number.
Cohen also recommends bathing in lukewarm water and bathing within 10 to 15 minutes to protect your skin from prolonged exposure to hot water. May cause skin dryness.
It should be noted that the skin plays a role in maintaining our immune system and produces antimicrobial peptides to help fight infection.
When you shower too much, it washes it all off, says Cohen, while showering too much can also affect your hair, weakening the roots and causing them to fall out.
So use lukewarm water to prevent the skin from drying out, hot water only dries the skin but retains its moisture.
You can also use a mild, chemical-free soap to cleanse, says Cohen, and apply a moisturizer to the skin before drying completely to lock in moisture.
