KARACHI: The funeral prayers of eminent religious scholar and Grand Mufti of Pakistan Mufti Muhammad Rafi Usmani were performed at Darul Uloom Karachi, after which he was laid to rest in the premises of Darul Uloom Karachi next to his father.
The funeral prayer was performed under the leadership of Mufti Taqi Usmani, the younger brother of the deceased, in which Sindh Governor Kamran Tesori, Jamiat Ulama Islam (F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, PSP Chairman Syed Mustafa Kamal and Anees Qaim Khani, Maulana Aurangzeb Farooqui and Apart from Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, a large number of students participated, besides Ulemas, Sheikhs and Muftis.
On the occasion of the funeral prayer, strict security arrangements were made at the main gate of Darul Uloom Karachi, while the bomb disposal squad checked the visitors.
It should be noted that on the night of November 18, Grand Mufti of Pakistan Muhammad Rafi Usmani died at the age of 88 years. Mufti Muhammad Rafi Usmani, the Grand Mufti and the head of Jamia Darul Uloom Karachi, was the author of more than 30 books, a Qur’an commentator and a jurist.
Maulana Rafi Usmani was born on July 21, 1936 in Deoband, India, he was named by the renowned religious scholar Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi. His father Maulana Shafi was the Grand Mufti of Darul Uloom Deoband.
