Dublin, June 29 (SO News/Agency) Thanks to a brilliant century by top-order batsman Deepak Hooda (104), India defeated Ireland by four runs in an exciting match played till the last ball in the second T20 on Tuesday. Won the two-match series two-nil. India made a huge score of 225 for seven in 20 overs and restricted Ireland’s stiff challenge to 221 for five. Deepak Hooda was awarded the man of the match award for his first century innings.

Chasing a big target, Ireland’s batsmen put Indian captain Hardik Pandya under immense pressure with their spirited performance. Hardik and the rest of the Indian players heaved a sigh of relief as they scored a run off the last ball. Ireland almost snatched the win from India’s hands.

Opener Paul Stirling scored 40 off 18 balls with five fours and three sixes, while captain Andy Balburnie scored 60 off 37 balls with three fours and seven sixes. Harry Tector scored 39 off 28 balls, George Dockrell scored 34 not out off 16 balls with three fours and three sixes and Mark Adder scored 23 not out off 12 balls. Ireland needed 17 runs to win from the last over but Imran Malik kept his composure despite hitting boundaries off the second and third balls and put the win in India’s lap.
