Indian boxer defeats Olympic medalist Nikhat Zarin to enter finals



New Delhi, February 26 (SO News/Agency) Former junior world boxing champion Nikhat Zarin has reached the finals of the 73rd Strandja Memorial Boxing Tournament. In the 51kg semi-final bout on Friday, Nikhat defeated Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Bosinaz Kakiroglou. The Indian boxer registered a 1-4 win over the Turkish boxer. This is Nikhat’s first win against Bossinaz, who defeated Maricom in the 51kg semi-final bout of the 2019 World Women’s Boxing Championship.

A fierce competition was witnessed between the two female boxers. In the beginning, the Turkish boxer showed an aggressive game. However, Nikhat kept his composure and launched heavy attacks on the opponent player from distance. In this tight contest, the athlete from Telangana came back with several organized attacks, as he thwarted his opponent’s attack with excellent defense.

Nikhat Zarin said after the victory, “This is a big moment in my career as Naqrai has won the Tokyo Olympic and World Championship medalist. I reviewed my previous match against them and I learned from my mistakes. I overcame them today and got the win.”
