IPL 2022: Bangalore beat Lucknow by 14 runs to enter second qualifier


Kolkata, May 26 (SO News/Agency) Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Lucknow Supergiants by 14 runs in the eliminator match of IPL 2022. With this win, Bangalore have made it to the second qualifier. Now they will face Rajasthan Royals.

Bangalore had set a target of 208 runs in the eliminator match. But Lucknow players could only score 193 runs. Rajat Patidar played a storming century for RCB. While KL Rahul scored a brilliant half-century for Lucknow.

Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul came to open for Lucknow chasing the target given by Bengaluru. Meanwhile, de Kock got out after scoring 6 runs. Manan Mohra scored 19 runs. He hit 2 sixes and a four in 11 balls. Deepak Hooda played a brilliant innings of 45 runs.

On behalf of Bengaluru, Rajat Patidar scored a brilliant century of 112 not out and Dinesh Karthik scored 37 not out and the two put on a brilliant partnership of 92 runs as Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) beat Lucknow Supergiants in the IPL eliminator. It was clear that RCB made a big score of 207 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs.

Batting first after losing the toss, RCK Patidar batted for the entire 20 overs before captain Faf du Plessis was dismissed for a wicket in the first over. Patidar hit 12 fours and seven sixes in his 54-ball century. . Karthik hit five fours and a six in his unbeaten 37 off 23 balls.

Patidar was included in the playing eleven as a second substitute this season, but in this innings he batted like a mature batsman and remained unbeaten till the end of the innings.

Several dropped catches by the Lucknow fielders and Patidar’s century led Bangalore to a big score. All the bowlers except Mohsin proved to be very expensive. Virat Kohli scored 25 runs in 24 balls. After his dismissal, Glenn Maxwell was dismissed for 9 and Mahipal Lomrur for 14. But the momentum that Bangalore picked up after that came to a screeching halt after reaching 207 runs.
