Mumbai, May 22 (SO News/Agencies) Delhi Capitals suffered a severe blow due to not taking DRS when Tim David’s account was not opened but David took full advantage of this new life with four in just 11 balls. He scored 34 runs with the help of sixes and Mumbai beat Delhi by five wickets to send Royal Challengers Bangalore to the IPL playoffs.
Delhi posted a challenging score of 159 for seven in 20 overs with the help of Ruman Powell (43), Rishabh Pant (39) and Akshar Patel (not out 19) but Mumbai managed 160 for five in 19.1 overs. Made it and beat it. Mumbai thus ended their campaign with a win. Mumbai’s win made Bengaluru the fourth team in the playoffs.
Batting first after losing the toss, Delhi got off to a poor start and lost four of their wickets en route to 50 runs. It included Prithvi Shaw’s 24 off 23 balls. But after that Powell and Pant added 75 runs in the fifth wicket partnership to manage the team to some extent. Pant hit four fours and a six in 39 runs off 33 balls while Powell hit one four and four sixes in 43 runs off 34 balls.
Patel scored 19 not out with the help of two sixes off 10 balls to take Delhi to a fighting score. On behalf of Mumbai, Jasprit Bumrah was the most successful with three wickets for 25 runs while Ramandeep Singh took two wickets for 29 runs.
