After reducing the test pattern and fees for admission in engineering universities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, it has been announced to reduce the test fee and increase the duration of the paper for admission in medical colleges. The medical test fee has been fixed at Rs 1,000 instead of Rs 6,000.

The entrance test for medical colleges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is being conducted on November 13 under the auspices of ETA. This year the duration of the test has also been extended. Last year the duration of medical test was 180 minutes while this year the duration of the test will be 210 minutes, while the paper will consist of 200 MCQs. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Medical Colleges Entrance Test organized by ETA will be conducted at 7 locations.

Candidates will be provided a scan copy of the original answer sheet instead of a carbon copy, while the test result will be declared within 7 days.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Higher Education Kamran Bangash termed the move to reduce the fee and increase the duration of medical colleges entrance test as revolutionary.

He said that it is his mission to provide facilities to the students, while all the preparations for the test have been completed. Earlier, the fee for engineering test organized by ETA was also reduced.

Decision on change in engineering test, fee and pattern

In the month of August this year, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Higher Education Kamran Bangash had announced the reduction in the paper pattern and fees of the engineering test during a press conference. The engineering test fee was reduced from Rs 2,500 to Rs 500. In the engineering test held on September 21, students were given a paper containing 100 questions instead of 200. While the duration of the paper was fixed at 120 minutes with a change in pattern.

Student reaction

The students who are busy preparing for the medical test appreciated the decision of the provincial minister on the one hand, but on the other hand the students are angry with the other steps taken regarding the test.

The students say that earlier the test was organized by the Pakistan Medical Commission for which they had made extensive preparations according to the same pattern. However, after that it was decided that the test will be conducted under the auspices of ETA, the official testing agency of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Due to which their preparations have also been affected.

Now they are busy preparing the pattern of forced ho karye eta. The students are also hesitant about the refund of Rs 5 thousand out of the 6 thousand fee.
