Melbourne, November 6 (SO News/Agency) India defeated Zimbabwe by a huge margin of 71 runs in the Super 12 stage match of the ICCT 20 World Cup. In the Super 12 stage match of the ICCT20 World Cup, India batted first and gave Zimbabwe a target of 187 runs to win.
On behalf of Zimbabwe, Ryan Brill scored 35 runs and all-rounder Sikander Raza scored 34 runs. Apart from these two batsmen, none of the players could stand up to the Indian bowlers, 6 players from Zimbabwe could not even get into double figures and the whole team could score only 115 runs.
For India, spinner Ravichandran Ayushan dismissed 3 players while Mohammad Shami and Hardik Pandya took 2 wickets each, besides Arsdeep Singh, Phuvishnu Kumar and Akshar Patel dismissed one batsman each. Earlier, India won the toss and elected to bat against Zimbabwe in the match played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Batting first, the Indian team scored 186 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the allotted twenty overs. India’s middle order batsman Sriyakumar Yadav played an aggressive innings of 61 runs off 25 balls. Apart from this, opener KL Rahul scored 51 runs, Virat Kohli scored 26 runs, Hardik Pandya scored 18 runs while captain Rohit Sharma scored 15 runs and Raship Pant scored 3 runs.
Thus, India scored 186 runs for 5 wickets in twenty overs and set Zimbabwe a target of 187 runs to win. For Zimbabwe, Sean Williams guided two Indian batsmen to the pavilion while Richard Ngarawa, Blessing Mudarabani and Sikandar Raza took one wicket each.
Middle-order batsman Sriya Kumar Yadav was named the player of the match for India’s brilliant and aggressive innings of 61 runs off 25 balls. It should be noted that India had already qualified for the semi-finals from Group 2.
With India’s victory, it has also become clear which team will play against which team in the semi-finals. In the semi-final, Pakistan will face New Zealand on Wednesday, November 9, while in the other semi-final, India will face England on November 10.
