Ahsan Iqbal has said that the effects of climate change are not a myth but a reality.
According to the details, Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal said in a press conference that a plan has been started to bring 20 backward districts to sustainable development in Pakistan.
Ahsan Iqbal said that for the approval of every project in Pakistan, it is mandatory that it meets the environmental standards.
He said that Pakistan has less than one percent share in global warming, Pakistan is currently among the seven countries that are the worst victims of climate change.
The Federal Minister for Planning and Development also said that climate change has led to record heat, torrential rains and floods in Pakistan.
Ahsan Iqbal said that the effects of climate change are a fact and not a myth, the climate disaster has directly affected 33 million people in Pakistan.
He said that the global financial system is failing to deal with the climate change agenda, a global climate change compatible infrastructure fund should be established.
Ahsan Iqbal also said that the developed countries have to fulfill their responsibility or disaster will catch them too, we have to save the climate for our generations.
Planning and Development Minister Ahsan Iqbal further said that developing countries should share their experiences to deal with the negative effects of climate change, hoping that the international community will help Pakistan in reconstruction and rehabilitation.
