The European Parliament declared Russia a state sponsor of terrorism

The Parliament of European countries has passed the bill to Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism.

According to foreign media reports, a resolution against Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was presented in the European Parliament today, which was approved by an overwhelming majority.

Ukrainian President Zelensky welcomed the resolution, but Washington has yet to respond to the resolution.

The European Parliament has called Russia a “state sponsor of terrorism”, saying Moscow’s deliberate attacks and atrocities in Ukraine are a violation of human rights and international humanitarian law.

It should be noted that today the European legislators passed the resolution with 494 votes in favor and 58 against while 44 did not vote.

The resolution stated that deliberate attacks and atrocities committed by the Russian Federation against the civilian population of Ukraine, destruction of civilian infrastructure and other serious violations of human rights and international humanitarian law amount to acts of terrorism. .

Observers say the move is largely symbolic because the EU has no legal framework to back it up.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky welcomed the vote, saying Russia must be isolated and held accountable at all levels.

Zelensky urged the United States and other countries to follow suit as he accused Moscow of targeting civilians, a charge Russia has denied.
